Terms of Service

Steenbeck is a web-based video and audio editor. You upload media, we generate a transcript, you edit by removing words and silences, and we render a finished file you can download. Some features (including AI filler-word and silence detection, and higher limits) are available only on the paid Pro plan.

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. You're responsible for your account, for keeping your login secure, and for all activity that happens under it. Provide accurate information and let us know if you suspect unauthorised use.

You keep all ownership of the media you upload and the cuts you create (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited licence to store, process and transmit Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you — for example, to transcribe it, render your edits, and deliver downloads. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that may briefly remain in backups.

You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the rights needed to upload and edit it. Don't upload anything unlawful, infringing, or that you don't have permission to use.

You agree not to:

• break the law or infringe anyone's rights with the Service;
• upload malware, or attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the Service;
• abuse, reverse-engineer, scrape or resell the Service;
• circumvent plan limits, usage quotas, or access controls.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or put the Service or other users at risk.

The Service offers a free plan and a paid Pro subscription. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance through our payment processor (Stripe) and renew automatically each billing period until you cancel.

You can cancel any time from your account; your Pro features continue until the end of the current paid period, after which your account moves to the free plan. Prices may change, but we'll give reasonable notice before a change affects you. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.

If you move to the free plan while holding more content than the free limits allow, your existing content is not deleted — but you won't be able to upload new files until you're back within the free limits or resubscribe.

Transcription and AI detection are automated and won't always be perfect — transcripts may contain errors and detection may miss or mis-flag content. You're responsible for reviewing your edits before publishing. The Service is provided to assist your editing, not to replace your own judgement.

We rely on third parties to run the Service (such as hosting, storage, transcription, AI, payments and email). Your use of the Service may be subject to their terms, and we aren't responsible for their acts or omissions.

We work to keep the Service available but don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may modify, suspend or discontinue features at any time. We may also update the Service to improve it.

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or if we need to for legal, security or operational reasons. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (such as content ownership, disclaimers and liability) will continue to apply.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't warrant that the Service will meet your requirements or that output will be accurate.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Steenbeck will not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of data, revenue or profits. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

You're responsible for keeping your own copies of important media; we are not a backup service.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over any disputes, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
