Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 June 2026

This policy explains what information Steenbeck.ai (“Steenbeck”, “we”, “us”) collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers our website and the editing app.

Information we collect

We collect the following:

  • Account information — your name, email address, and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google instead of a password.
  • Content you upload — the video and audio files you upload, and the transcripts, edit decisions and rendered exports we generate from them.
  • Billing information — if you subscribe to Pro, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card details; we store only a customer reference and your subscription status. We never see or store full card numbers.
  • Usage information — basic operational data such as storage used, transcription minutes, and logs needed to run, secure and debug the service.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • provide the service — transcribe, edit, and render your media;
  • create and secure your account, and sign you in;
  • process payments and manage your subscription;
  • enforce plan limits and prevent abuse;
  • send essential account emails (for example, welcome and password-reset messages);
  • maintain, troubleshoot and improve the service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content you upload to train our own models.

Service providers we share data with

We rely on a small number of trusted third parties to operate the service. They process data only to provide their function to us, under their own terms and security commitments:

  • Hosting & storage — Hetzner (application servers and object storage for your uploads and exports).
  • Transcription — Groq, with OpenAI as a fallback, to turn your audio into a timestamped transcript.
  • AI detection — Google (Gemini) to detect filler words and repeated takes, on Pro projects.
  • Payments — Stripe.
  • Email — Resend, to send transactional emails.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and the service.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your uploads, transcripts and exports for as long as the project exists in your account, so you can come back and re-edit or re-export. When you delete a project, its media, transcript and exports are removed from our storage.

You can delete your entire account at any time from your account settings. Deleting your account permanently removes your projects and associated content. Some records may persist briefly in backups or where retention is required by law, after which they are deleted.

Cookies and sessions

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. It is essential to the service and is not used for advertising. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

Security

We protect your data with measures including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, scoped access to your own content, and uploads sent directly to storage. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to address issues promptly.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise many of these directly in the app, or by contacting us. We will respond in line with applicable law.

Children

Steenbeck.ai is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
